The ballistics are realistic, taking into account bullet drop and the fact that guns aren't accurate 100% of the times even in real life. The first couple of hours of the game are an absolute nightmare no matter how good a gamer you are, and that's an intended design choice. I'd start off by saying that its reputation as being a tough game is not without merit. In the almost 37 hours I played the game, I did not encounter a single bug, but I'd rather attribute that to my luck than the game being polished, because most players who went vanilla seem to have encountered at least a couple. Also, worth noting is that I played it vanilla, in spite of everybody suggesting that one should at least install ZRP (bug fixes mod). As suggested by everybody on the subreddit and on YouTube, I played it on the highest difficulty (Master) and disabled crosshairs. Finally got around to playing it after having bought it more than half a year ago, and I didn't regret a single dime, or a single second I spent on it. I had been hearing a lot about the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series for a while, especially because of all the Anomaly (and GAMMA, to a lesser extent) content floating around on YouTube and other places.
